confusion over boiler size

this is a corrected message (includes additional information) to that previous posted under heading "peerless ec/ect 03 vs ec/ect 04?"
Im about to replace a 70+ yr old oil fired steam boiler that heats radiators in our 19th century house. Im told I need 220sqft of steam. I will also have the new boiler hooked to 40gal indirect hot water tank. One contractor says to use Peerless model ec/ect03 (which can produce 283 to 446 sg ft depending on GPH), another says to use model ec/ect 04 (which can produce 471 to 650 sg ft depending on GPH). Ive also been cautioned strongly about using an oversized sytem. Any advice out there on which model to use? THANKS.

You need to start by adding up all the EDR of your existing rads and figuring out your load that way. Then add in the load of the indirect when you know it's requirements. Dan has a good article somewhere about pulling HW off a steamer for this type of use...
