How to control individual valves and pumps

I have a job that has three circulator pumps and five zone valves. They supply water to baseboard and AHU heating coils. I want to be able to control a specific zone pump based on when the Taco 3-wire zone valve end switch proves. My problem is the Taco ZVC series zone control panels cannot accomplish this. The Taco SR series panel provides individual pump control but I don’t believe it can be cycled on by the zone valve end switch. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

    can you draw out the...

boiler set up? You should be able to make it work w/ the Taco relays. You might just have to have the use the end switch to turn on a pump relay by using the tt on a sr pump relay.

    You

will need a separate ZVC for each pump that you want to turn on with a group of zone valves.Or get rid of the ZVC altogether and use a SR503 and a 24v transformer to control the 3 pumps using the end switches

Question regarding valve and pump control

Robert, Thanks for the input. I thought the SR panel could be the solution. If I use a SR505 not the SR503(for 5 zone stats) with 3 RIB 120v relays at the SR panel I could see controlling the current zone pumps with the existing 24v relays. Is this what you had in mind? Thanks

Taco multizone relay interface with Taco multizone relay

Taco, control panels are designed to facilitate the wiring, not make it more difficult. Simply wire the ZVC board using the typical wiring diagram found on the instruction sheet. However, you will have to make some changes. Please a jumper between terminals 3, and 4 on each zone of the control panel, the way we show it for the priority zone on the instruction sheet. Terminals 1, and 2 on the board should be wired to the corresponding 1, and 2 terminals on the Taco heat motor zonevalve on each zone. That's it for the ZVC board. Now for the circulators, you can use 3 single zone SR501's, or a multizone SR503 for the 3 zone pumps. Bring terminals 2 and 3 from the zonevalve to the corresponding TT terminals on the SR boards using the end switches to emulate the thermostat, and wire the XX isolated endswitch on the SR board to interface with the boiler TT terminals to energize the boiler. This way the boiler fires at the same time the zonevalves open, and the pumps start. See attached drawing. Hopefully this helps you.
