Do you remember your first ?

WE got the call water leaking from the ceiling under the bathroom. Pulled up to the house the entire roof trusses and all were in the parking lot next door. Didn't have a water key long enough to reach the cloud.

Mine was just the other day,and I was terribly dissapointed! My first steamer service call, that is! The service call came in as "steam boiler- no domestic hot water" . The boiler was cold,at room temp. It turned out to be an electric hot water heater.

  • Been on calls with the homeowner reporting a natural gas leak though.

    House was all electric

    For that call,

I definitely would have opened the windows and avoided light switches and sparking appliances anyway.

    :)
  • Been on a call like that

All electric house, full of gas.

Every fifteen minutes, we (Gas Co; Fire Dept) found a couple more houses filling up. We had about 9 houses ventilating by the time the street gang opened the street up and found a 4" cast iron gas main separated in the street.

We had 5 streets closed by then, too.

No incedents, by the way. Textbook, the way we kept checking houses in a circle to see if the problem was growing or shrinking.

    My first...

Was servicing an oil-fired forced air furnace, got ready to fire it up, propped open the door on the combustion chamber, Dad said watch and see if it fires...blew soot, etc. in my face, was a little loaded up...Dad said, "What did you learn from that?"..That's the way he taught my brother and I, in classic Irish fashion!

    My worst

Got a call "smell gas", as i looked for the leak,I touched the old style gas cock it fell apart . There I was holding the body of the old gas cock .What to do ,luckly my tool were near and the meter was it the same room .I made a mad dash and the valve on the meter worked. I bring a help now .
