Yes,Just some old Emery cloth does it,you can use Scotchbrite,
We remove the electrode for cleaning.
While the electrodes are out, We just clean slightly the area of that mesh.
Only once did i need to readjust the Electrodes on a 11/44 at 11.200' in elevation.

Vitodens 200 Maintenance
My company installed a vitodens boiler a little over a year ago and would like to perform a routine maintenance before they upcoming heating seasons as the new owner finally moves in. Any tips or tricks we should know about? Any help is greatly appreciated0 -
Checklist
I've got a Boiler Inspection Checklist.
to much to list here.
In a nut shell, i would pull the burner off of the boiler and clean it
i.e. the ignition rod and the sensing rod and also the Screen were the rods are located.
check the combustion chamber and clean it!
If it is full of deposits remove the condensate trap hook up a large diameter hose to it ,put the hose into a bucket ,use the approved cleaner and a soft brush or a Credit card to clear out the grooves
Also check you System Fluid quality.
Amp draw on circs
Combustion?
Clean you condensate trap!
Much more...to much to list

Manual
There is a start-up/service manual that comes with the Vitodens 200. It provides step by step service instructions and a maintenance record form in the back. If it is not in the service binder, it can be downloaded off the Viessmann site.0 -
Wondering about the burner mesh cleaning? I have not noticed any debris on the burner mesh, if I had to clean it though I would have a problem as the tork head screws that hold it in place have corroded. I have some stainless replacement screws from Viessmann but it's too late for a couple of boilers I have installed.
The credit card grove cleaning tip is crucial, you won't find this in the manual.
As far as the recommended cleaner not sure if the manual is still recommending Antox, but I was told this is a nasty and somewhat dangerous chemical. I was directed to Stellar Solutions for a citric acid based cleaner.0 -
burner mesh
Like i mentioned before,
Clean the burner mesh only at the area were the electrodes are so Flame rod rectification can take place!0 -
oxidation patina
The patina on the burner mesh seems like it would be stubborn to remove I assume your just doing a light removal of some of the surface oxidation.
How about the electrodes, do you remove them for cleaning? or just work on them carefully while attached? needle nose vice grips for gap adjustments? Emery cloth? Scotchbrite?
The solar glycol post died while you were at the Octoberfest.0
