Great addition to the world of music.

Hey Paul, I saw the Australian Pink Flyod tribute band and they were unbelivable. Spot on ... The solos where just like the albums. Apparantly they are so good that they played at Gilmours 50th birthday party.

Nothing like Pink Flyod and a strobe light ... maybe a black light .... wait ... what where we talking about ??

    Today - 65 Years Old

September 15th is a sad day in music. What made Pink Floyd unique is nobody sounded like them, one note you knew who it was. All the crazy stuff you heard that wasn't Gilmour was Richard Wright. A quiet legend... RIP

    I remember

the first time I heard them was Dark Side of the Moon. Pretty far out stuff at the time. I ended up buying everything I could find. I wonder how many potential girlfriends I scared away by playing early Floyd, like "Careful of that Axe Eugene," and "Several Small Furry Animals Sitting in a Cave, Grooving with a Pict," one of the longest song titles I've ever seen. Sorry to hear of his passing. Another great inovator leaves us. WW

Meddle was the first Pink Floyd album I owned, I used to headphone Echoes to crash (did I really say that out loud) Listen to Gilmour's slide guitar work on One Of These Days, God-Like...

Rick was not known for soaring keyboard solos. Instead, he built those ethereal layers of sound. He was a kind, gentle man bullied out of the band during the recording of The Wall by Roger Waters then relegated to session player. In recent yrs. Dave Gilmour would invite Rick to appear on his more recent tours, sometimes just for a cameo. Check out the making of DSOM. FYI, bass player Guy Pratt, who played with Floyd on their last tours, married Rick's daughter.

We used to sit in my neighbors room, which had a black ceiling, yellow walls and black trim. We'd crank "Time" with the lights out and a strobe going. When all the clocks struck whatever time it was, we'd all scream as loud as we could.

I don't think his parents were home at the time. Seemed like a good idea back then.

Just saw Australian Pink Floyd on PBS last weekend. Sounded great. Must catch that show some day.

What a shame Waters could not work things out with the rest of them to have one reunion show before he passed....and why not have Sid Barret reunite? Is he still around?

    no Floyd reunion

Syd Barrett, b 6Jan46, d.7July06 so no reunion. He had suffered from diabetes for yrs., was insane and lived alone in a small flat in Cambridge. He had not performed since about 1969 and functionally could not.

Ironically, Rick was the one most in favor of a Floyd reunion tour with Roger even though Roger was the one who treated him so badly ejecting him from the band. Speaks highly of Rick's character. Gilmour was not being a jerk but standing up to Roger for a change. Live 8 was a strain as Roger and Dave struggled to be civil and work together. Dave had been the music director of the band for 25 yrs so Roger had to bow to Dave's direction overall but Dave did concede a good bit to Roger for that one concert. For one, they had never played those songs together in concert!

    Rick was a quiet gentleman.

There is no dark side of the moon really

matter of fact it's all dark.

One of my favorite bands. I never got to see them in concert though I had the chance twice. Both times something prevented me from going. The first time it was my father that stopped me, "No concerts on a school night!!!" The second was this silly thing called "A Job".

RIP Richard. Shine on you crazy diamond.

I never got to see PF together with Roger Waters but I saw Pf in Vancuover, BC in the earily 90's. I had Nose bleed seats in the way, way back and it was the best seats in the house. Then a few years later I saw roger at the Gorge in Geoge. So I guess I could say I have seen PF. t's a shame to loose such a quiet, out spoken poet. PF will never be the same. Richard it looks like "Time" has finally caught your. Go in peace
