New Steam Boiler... PIN6

I finally ran my newly installed Burnham Pin6 boiler for the first time this weekend.

Results:

1) Created Steam very quickly – (7- 10 min) but the water line in the boiler dropped big time from ¾ line to an inch form the bottom. My old steam boiler didn’t do this… is that ok? The low water cut off didn’t kick in but the water was very low. It never came back up, but it did move up and down a little.
2) I started to get heat to the radiators after 15 min of total runtime. Is that normal?
3) With the new main vent (Ventrite) I tapped into the main, the steam filled very quickly, about 15 -20 seconds after the boiler started making steam. I could hear the main vent moving allot of air… I tapped with ¼ inch, maybe that is to small?
4) The pressure got up to 2 -3 lbs – but I set the cut-in and out as low as it would go (.5) I think. Shouldn’t the boiler have shut down.

Since my old Burnham was leaking steam and the pressure gauge never worked, I have no idea what is normal operation.

Update: Still building my drop header, much harder then it looked.
