Saturday evening here. Some gas stations are out of regular. I filled up at $3.70 and the attendant says it goes up $0.50 tomorrow.

Gas just went to $6.25 a gallon at the Marathon and Shell stations just south of me. The talking heads say that Ike could effect 40% of US refining capacity.0 -
AND...
By Tuesday....?
Speculation has its place...but this is ridiculous! Chris0 -
Gougers
I think when gas goes to 6.25, its because they dont have much or dont anticipate getting a delivery on time. Whatever the case They have it, you need it, supply & demand free market. Be thankfull its not 100.00 a gallon. It could be. What makes us think those paper dollars are worth so much anyways?0 -
Not as extreme
around here. Although it did go up 30 cents a gallon for regular yesterday. I don't like Ike. WW

Shell Game
The price has to go up at the pump immediately be it storms or the price of crude going up. They say we need to up the price to cover the incoming higher priced fuel delivery. Then the price goes down but the pump price doesn't because they have to cover the cost of the higher priced fuel in the tanks. Seems they keep the price up as long as possible and we all suffer. So what is it, covering the incoming load or covering the already delivered load? I do not trust these people.

Not so 150 miles south
Steve:
That is gouging, plain and simple. Gas in the metro Detroit area is still around $4.29 as of 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning. $6.25 is criminal.0 -
Back to $4.25 now
I have no idea how long the price was at that level. My niece reported that it was upper $5.00 in Clare last night.0 -
If you suspect gouging go to www.gaswatch.energy.gov and report it. Chances are you have an anti gouging law in your state.0 -
I filled the Suburban today at 3.63. We don't use it very often so that should last quite a while. Still, it cost me $130.00, and the gauge read just below 1/2 when I started. Ouch!0 -
Gas prices
I was paying $11.00 for gas and $10.60 for disel in May. But it has been that way in Europe for years.0 -
