This recall does not involve boilers other than the two models specified, DE and PSC II for the units that fall into the serial # range listed. Peerless does not make the component being recalled. Every effort is being made to prevent a potential incident especially when the component involved is designed and used for safety puposes. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact Peerless, your wholesaler or rep.

Model Name: Serial Number

Free Inspection and repair?
"Remedy: Consumers who have not already been contacted, should contact their installer immediately for a free safety inspection and repair, if necessary."
Who will compensate installers for their time for the free safety inspection and repair? It's been a tough year for most and I would guess, won't be happy running around for free inspections and repairs?
It certainly isn't the contractor's fault Peerless has unleashed a defective boiler into the marketplace.
Alan, glad to see you are up and about...

Peerless?
Does anybody even install Peerless anymore? After their Pinnacle gas failures and the inability to sell even one oil condensing boiler I thought they went away. Well looky here, they got a horrific recall on their hands. Man am I happy I don't install that junk.

Peerless
I have always had good luck installing Peerless boilers. I have quite a few of their cast iron hot water boilers in the field & have had very little trouble with them. I like Peerless products.

Yeah they're great
Except the 1200 or so really bad ones0 -
Unfortunately, Peerless used a component in manufacturing two models of gas boilers that has exhibited the potential of causing serious injury. Responsibly they are acting to correct the problem, something demonstrated by other boiler manufacturers when confronted with similar circumstances. Where a contractor has to return to provide the the replacement part, they are being compensated. Inventory in wholesalers is being corrected by representatives of the manufacturer. The important thing to act on is to notify the wholesaler you purchased the unit from if you installed any of the units listed that fall in the range of serial #'s so that we can promptly get the component replaced.
Thank you Alan for bringing it to this forum hope things are working out for you, my best as always.

What's really unfortunate is
Hazard: The pressure switch could have an internal defect that could fail to shut down the boilers under vent or air inlet blockage. This switch defect could allow the boilers to produce excessive levels of carbon monoxide, posing a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning to consumers.
There is NO acceptable level of carbon monoxide, ever, nowhere no-how! Was Quality Control on vacation that week of production?0 -
Glad to see you back Alan!!
Alan:
Good to see your name attached to a post. Hope you are feeling well. As usual you have shown what this site is all about...education and communication. All other agendas are purely a waste of space.
Be well and hope to see you soon.

Thank You
Thanks for the response. There are still those of us out here that understand that the world is not perfect, and we appreciate a rapid response when possible problems may happen with components on a boiler.0 -
