Steam main vents

and if you can't get the drill in position to drill the hole in the top, you can drill in the side and elbow up. Leave a bit of pitch in the short horizontal pipe, towards the main.

    Steam main vents

I recall a few years back that Steamhead gave some great advice on tuning a one pipe system for fuel savings. He mentioned, I think, burning a hole 15" from the end of an unvented main and welding on a fitting for a nipple and air vent. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone has info on this. I think the fitting was called a "weld-o-let"??? Not sure what it is called and where to get them.
    Thanks again,
    Sam

on our BIG projects, like the one in our Find a Professional ad. Click the link below to see it.

For the usual residential system, drilling and tapping works fine.

    Mains with No vents

So to follow-up on what you said, is it ok to drill and tap the main vent directly into the main line it's self (15" back from the end)?
