I have used the Ariston tanks. You can get a 6 or 8 gal tank you can just plug into a electric outlet. Mounts on the wall and very cheap to run.

Electric on demand hot water heater ??

I have a customer who would like and outsdie shower installed next to the garage. The garage has water but is 50 yards from the house. It would be ridiculous to try and pipe hot water from the house. An electric HWH to run just for and outdoor shower ? Equally as wastefull.

I did a outdoor shower once with a small 220 on demand hot water heater but it had trouble with the temperature rise during the cooler months.

Any good units out there ?

    Stiebl Electric ?

Try Microtherm Seisco . You can buy directly from them and support is good. I have a unit with 10 years on a whole house set up.

I think that a Stiebel Eltron should work,

How many GPM and at Wat rise, i.e your incoming temp on your cold is 38F and you require the a 104F shower at 1.5 gal/min then you will need the Tempra 20 with 208V and two 40 amp Breakers and the proper wires from the breaker to the Unit.

You may need a bigger unit depending on the situation. Just remember that these units are in need of some serious power supply.(kinda like a Welder).

You can also use a storage tank prior to the Heater and it will pick up the heat from the room (approx 65 F)as a preheat.

IF you have good solar expose you may think about a solar preheat tank.

    Hope this help'sRichard from Heatmeister

    Thanks Richard

    It does help.

I was thinking solar but its a little expansive for "just" an outdoor shower.

The tank idea is good. MAybe a loop or two of Fosta-pex in the bays of the garage cieling before the heater ?

    Yes

I have used them also Mike, for hand washing, but sor a shower there is not enough volume.

Think a couple of kids coming home from the beach. 2.5 gpm shower head and thats 2 minutes before it starts to get cool and that would be with a 6 gallon unit.
