I have a client that is considering having us replace his aging direct (gas)fired domestic hot water system in his 37 unit apartment house. He thinks he wants a single Lochinvar Armor AWN 285 or a AWN 399 with an Ergomax E44 storage tank. I can find very little info on the Armor condensing water heater. I have read up on the Knight boiler and realize that it is a very similar product. Have any of you guys installed this system yet? Were you happy with the results? Have the instalations been trouble free? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    undersized

That sounds way to small that big of a load a E$$ is I think 300K BTU. i would think the E65 would be a better choice.
I did a project about that size and used WM ultras and Turbo max heaters and had great performance.

    Mike,
I did not even do the calculations yet. The two existing tanks are eighty gallon units with inputs of 199,000 each. Each one bedroom apartment has a full bath (2.5gpm shower head), no dishwasher and no washing machine. There are two utility sinks and three residential style washing machines for the the complex to share in the laundry room.

sorry it sounded like you did. The set up I installed worked great and has saved the building owner thousands and they never run out of water. In the past the building would run out at peek demand. I will try and find a few pics

We have done a number of installs. They are excellent units. The savings over conventional units is amazing, over 60%! We installed a pair at a large pub/restaurant. The owner was so happy witht he units, he sent the check before it was due.

In your application, I would install one 400 and a single 100 gallon storage tank.
