Checked the price of steel pipe lately?

While installing the circs and piping my wood boiler, I found a few old Grinnell black malleble fittings in my stash that said "USA"...should have saved them for a museum!

Very scary!
In the last month black pipe has jumped over 40%. My brother in the hardware store told me that a tariff on Chinese made pipe just went into effect causing the drastic increase.0 -
Was the tariff
designed to promote US manufactured steel pipe out of plants that don't exist? Or maybe a new source of revenue now that we have few alternatives for pipe?
Where will you get pipe? I imagine there must be other increases in cost coming.0 -
Yah know Doug......
It was something the government did so............who knows what kind of logic was behind it. The Feds know they/we, as a country, are in very deep guano financially speaking. I'm looking for all sorts of "creative revenue enhancement" programs and machinations.0 -
