You will not gain anything from removing the front cover. You will run the risk of breaking something by the time you're done. This model cleans from the rear by removing the rear cover. If you have less than 22" clearance in the doorway you need a carpenter.

    system 2000

i have a system 2000 ek-1 standard -i have to bring it in a basement -the doorway and stairway at the top is 24" --i think if i remove the burner i think it will squeeze through -- but i might have to take the front door off
-- i have not installed 1 of these yet and am not sure of how the front comes off--
not much info in the I/O manual are there any things i
should watch out for ? any tips

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// i must say i'm impressed with the amount of fittings,pre-assembled piping it comes with --this job will be with the high mass kit --and it looks like all i need for fittings and pipe will be minimal --maybe a length of 3/4L handfull of fittings ,and a handfull of fittings for the supply and return

its a good amount of money more in the beginning but the time ,thought of layout, and fittings will make it about the same price as most other installs

    EK-1 Standard

Remove the burner, circulator and the short piece of 1/2" copper for the PE return and you should have a couple of inches to spare.

i was reading through the manual about the amulet on the end of the blast tube ---? i still dont see how this front opens without removing piping that has some silicone around the nipples and cutting the 1/2 copper that is already sweated together up top ( of course i will cut it and sweat in a union for future service) but looking at it to remove the front -- i would have to take off some piping, remove the burner, remove a lot of the wiring , the subbase for the control, take the screws out of the side panels where they meet the front --- maybe i'm wrong but how does this open for cleaning ??

    The

standard cleans from the rear.I think the Frontier is a better way to go.

damn, if i would have ordered the unit i would have gone with the tank underneath --what is the minimum clearance for access to the rear ?

    The

recommended clearance is 18" or more for rear service units.I've only cleaned a few rear service and believe me 18" is real tight!

Maybe you should get a rep out there to walk you through the install. Its not really a DIY project.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

this is not a DIY project --i've been in the business for 19 years a lot more commercial than residential -- this just happens to be the first System 2000 ,and the I/O manual doesnt tell much -its always good to here from real installers the little tips on a specific type of equipment --i didn't set up the job nor did i plan on doing it -- the boiler was ordered ,delivered and opened --the contractor who was going to install it will not be able to ---so i will be -------this was the premiere kit with most parts and a lot of fittings including the high mass kit for radiators --so this is going to be cake -AFTER i get it in the basement
