Having had a steam system, I am familiar with the boiler sizing process, edr, sq/ft steam, etc. I am purchasing a home that currently has an older W/M atmospheric gas fired boiler, with a 75 gallon indirect that is past its service life. The emitters in the house are all fin type baseboard. In the spring, I want to update the boiler and tank, possibly with a mod/con, and wanted to know how to size same. Is it a matter of just taking the amount of linear feet of baseboard, taking the btu's per foot and multiplying it out? Does a mod/con make sense with low mass emitters like this? Thanks.

    Go

to the "Resources" tab above and get the S/F heat loss software.Calculate the heat loss and that will tell you the size boiler you need, the amount of baseboard is irrelevant to the size of the boiler.Read the attached report regarding condensing boilers and baseboard.

    It worked for me

I've found a lot of PDF's come through as CFM's. If your computer won't open it, you need to tell your computer to open a .cfm with powerpoint (or a powerpoint reader) and then it should open.
