Thanks.
it appears that many people suggest for home heating
.5 for Main setting (cut in)
and 1.5 Cut out setting( differential).

Safe to change my pressetrol setting to above?

since my pressuretrol dont have "cut out" i will adjust the differential to 1.5psi?

Thanks again

    Pressuretrol

Hi everyone. summer is about to be over and i am readying my boiler for the winter.
on the honeywell pressuretrol, which one is cut in and which one is cut out?
i have main and diff labeled and everyone on forum refers to cut in and cut out?

what should each be set to for a efficient home heating?

    Thanks!

Cut in is main which is cut out, minus differential.

System pressures differ depending on type but, generally the lower the better. Maximum setting is usually no more than 1 PSI for evey 18" from operating waterline to bottom of header.

    On a Honeywell unit

with "Main" and "Diff" scales on the front, Main is cut-out and Diff is the difference between cut-out and cut-in. This is probably a unit with a clear plastic front that lets you see the insides, right?

If you can get it down to 1 pound on Main and 1/2 pound on Diff, that should work great. If the steam doesn't distribute properly at these pressures, you probably have an air venting problem.
