I was in a condo in an older building on the north side of Chicago by the lake.
I walked into the powder room to service the air handler in the ceiling, and I happen to look at the toilet. The first thing that caught my attention was it is a commercial type toilet with a Sloan type power flusher on it, which I thought was a little strange for a residence.

Then I take a closer look, and notice who made the camode, which totally shocked me.

Assuming it is the same company that makes boilers, I had no idea Weil McLain made plumbing fixtures at one time.

guess that's when they made a superior product. they have been living on legend for too long.

    The original name

was Weil Brothers, I think- they were a supply house originally. They sold boilers and radiators made by the J.H. McLain company, and eventually bought that operation and merged it into their supply business.

If you look on the back of that bowl, you may find the logo of the company who actually made it. If you ordered enough of them, the manufacturer would put your name on them. For example, in Baltimore we still see fixtures labeled "James Robertson Company" although they were made by either Keystone Potteries Co. or Trenton Potteries Co.
