They got controls for just that application and probably have associated piping diagrams. WW

Geothermal water to water unit piping scheme
Looking for help! anyone have a good schematic for piping/wiring a existing gas boiler with a geothermal w/w unit (duel fuel) gas for backup0 -
The simple way is to combine the systems and just pump from the boiler into the supply side of buffer tank and return to boiler on the other. The problem with this is low return temps into boiler. A properly sized w/w unit should not need a back up so the one time every ten years or so you run the boiler it will probably be fine.
If you need suplimental heat I would pipe the boiler prim secondary and inject into the tank. That will give you boiler protection. I think this would be the prefered method.
Controls are very simple just a two stage aquastat on the buffer tank stage one the w/w unit stage 2 the boiler set 20 deg apart. Connect stage 2 into a simple circ control and your done. I have a pipe diag it just wont attach i can email it if you want
