Tech School Educators HELP!

Alan,

I like the idea, that would be great in a heating only world. What I am looking at teaching is the third year plumbing apprentice program. In PA years 1&2 are plumbing, year 3 is heating, year 4 is AC, year 5 is advanced AC.

So, as you see, I have one year of apprentices to teach hydronice, heat via air, oil, gas,etc etc

Phew, shoud be fun

  • Apprenticeship Heating Text Book

OK, all you educators. I would love to promote Dan and his books but I need to find a current heating text that I can suggest to our local tech school for the 3rd year PA apprenticeship course. (for those that do not know, PA has a 5 year school requirent to get your masters, years 1 & 2 are plumbing, year 3 heating, year 4 & 5 HVAC)

Currently they are using a Refrigeration & AC book, 4 chapters of 48 apply to heating. Two of those apply to hot air, one applies to controls and one mentions hydronics.

So, what text are you using for your heating classes?
  • Siggy's Hydronic Bible....

Modern Hydronic Heating for Residential and Light Commercial Buildings.

I use it in both courses (basic hot water and advanced hydronic heating).

See you Thursday and Friday? I THINK I owe you (and a million other people) a beer.

  • SIggies book

    MArk,

I was loking at Sigs book. Cost may be an issue with the school district. His book is almost twice the price (and twice as useful) as their current book.

Lets try and steal a moment in Schamburg. I'll be arriving at 7am on Thursday. See you there... and I'll expect a beer :-)

Steve, my thoughts (from an oil geek) would be IBR for the 1st & 2nd year, 3rd year for oil would be from the NORA Silver Manual and years 4 & 5 should be from the RSES Manual.

All of this of course is just my humble opinion :)
