    Anybody watch the relay event?

I watched with extreme gratification as the U.S. men's relay swim team, an underdog to the French, came back to win the event last night by 8/100 of a second. What made it sweet was one of the French swimmers said his team came to the Olympics to 'smash' the Americans.

    Who is talking now France?

We are here to smash you!

I can't wait to see how the French perform in the "Rifle Drop and Run" event.
This event was to be followed by the German Language event, but the American team intervened on their behalf.....so they are still able to speak French.

    Race

Too bad it was on so late, the whole country needed to see that race. I loved the expressions on the French swimmers faces. They all had that"Deer in the headlights" look. The good thing is, they will probably do the same thing next Olympics, only next time they'll recruit athletes from other countries to help them out:-)
  • Hey come on guys

Quit beating up on the French. They make good tools.

I have a "French Army Knife" that is really handy.

It is simple and only has two tools in it.

One is a cork screw the other is a little white flag.

    THAT was a Competition !

no sence playing in the sand box when you can throw down with some real competition . *~/:)

fractions of a tenth of a second is the difference in 21 strikes a second and 14 strikes a second..buh that s another story :)

all of the teams strove to win THAT Race buh many of them shatterd the World record for the event ! i'd say congratulations were in order for all of the contestants that really was a heck of a fight :)

    A nice, close race

    my favorite kind.

8/100 of a second could have happened to either team. Both teams ran a heck of a race. In earlier Olympiads it would have been called a tie, since they didn't have the super-accurate timing equipment we have now.

The rematch four years from now should prove interesting.

    All kidding aside

The best part of this event was the Herculean effort by the American swimmer. He was almost a body length behind and over came it.

THAT is what the Olympic are all about. Never quit, never give up.

The fact that we shut the trash talking French was the icing on the pastry

Subtract 64 from 2008 = 1944. That should answer your question.

You knew it would come to this

I got a tip for you , if you install the french versions of your favorite programs, THEY RUN A LOT FASTER

Why wouldn't the Statue of Liberty work in France? Because she has only one arm raised.

How do you separate the men from the boys in France? With a crowbar.

What do you call a Frenchman advancing on Baghdad? A salesman

What's the shortest book ever written? French War Heroes.

Now that the heating industry has weighed in on the public humiliation the French suffered at the Olympics, let's really show them what we are made of buy buying a bunch of condensing boilers with french-made heat exchangers!

A Frenchwoman walks into a bar

A Frenchwoman walks into a bar carrying a duck under her arm.
The bartender says "HEY! You can't bring that pig in here."
The Frenchwoman says "Excuse me...but that's a duck."
The bartender says back, "Excuse ME, but I was talking to the duck."

    America?

Only in America......can a homeless combat veteran live in a cardboard box and a draft dodger live in the White House.

Why do sick people have to walk all the way to the back of the store for prescriptions and scumbags get to buy cigarettes in the front?

    Heart

Pepe.........But let another country try to invade this one, and see how quick that homeless veteran, draft dodger and scum bag take up arms and fight to the death to defend our shores. And, God forbid a segment of uor population sides with the enemy, when all is said and done they won't be breathing the same air in the U.S. God Bless America!

    Damn that attitude

You people are putting "Full Metal Jacket" right in the middle of this Peking "Olympic Village". They're mutually exclusive concepts. Wake up, and smell the spirit. What about the hostiges; what about the four black raised fists; what about "the boycot". People taking political liberties with the Olympic Podium is simply wrong, and demonstrates the darker side of the Human Species.

The French statement was certainly meant in the context of competitive sport. Remember "Broadway Joe"!? Not that much different.

Get the Politics out of it.
