Condensing Oil Furnace by Adams

i am a novice in the industry however my bosses have 25 years each. they recently saw a working model of adams 95% condensing oil furnace. confident that all the issues of previous like furnaces have been addressed they ordered an ample supply that very day.
now i'm tasked with selling the "wonder" oil furnace and i'm getting nothing but grief, doubt even belligerence from my guys.
has anyone actually serviced one of these that has been installed (in a northern state) since late 2003 or early 2004? It's my understanding that maintenance has been simplified and with proper maintenance this furnace should maintain it's efficiency and last as long as a comparable gas furnace.
Thanks

Adams Manufacturing
Cleveland, Ohio based manufacturer that makes "The World's Most Efficient Furnace". At 95% efficiency for an oil-fired furnace it is hard to argue with that claim. They have been in business since 1945 so they must be doing something right.0 -
Bad experience a few years ago
I would never install one again.
Technical support was non existant, no field reps.
Not for my worst enemey,

No more difficult to work on than standard oil. Has good access panel in back to get to heat exchangers. Need a good combustion analyzer that can read CO to make sure they are set up correctly. Because of the tight heat exchanger passages there is no room for error. Operate cheaper than natural gas furnaces.0 -
Selling Aids
Your bosses have already made the decision to sell Adams funaces. It is now your job to make your bosses look smart. Call up Adams Manufacturing and ask them for selling aids so you can do the best possible job of selling their fine product. They manufacture a very complete line of products and they even make their own patented high efficiency oil burner. You may find out that the reason your bosses have been in business so long is because they know what they are doing.0 -
warranty hinges on combustion analysis
They've changed the warranty so that it will not be activated without the installer performing a combustion analysis. Not your Dad's Olds & as Jim points out, it'll bite you if you don't set it up properly.
The factory readily admitted their first-generation units had lots of issues. The newer models are supposed to be reliable and we installed one several years ago. It has performed flawlessly and was set up using an electronic combustion analyzer.

combustion analyzer no doubt
Setting up the burner up wasn't the main issue.
Not worth getting into all the details, it was several years ago.
The last straw was when the combustion chamber collapsed. The new chamber needed to be overnighted. 2 days later when that one showed up it was broken in the box.
I'm glad to hear they have worked out the issues and people are excited to install their high efficiency equipment.

Big Time Bad Medicine
20 in ... 20 out ... one winter ... nuff said!0 -
I agree with the concept but
There are some serious design issues with the exchanger. When set up right they run fine but if a glitch happens they can create big problems REAL quick! The Beckett NX burner performs flawlessly though.0
