Water Feed Location

Member Posts: 3
Hello,
I get conflicting opinions, can someone remove my doubt.
I am redoing my boiler piping and would like to know the best location to tie in the water feed to the system. Its a Forced hot water system ( 7 zones) by gas. I was lead to believe to "T" feed in between the air scoop and the expansion tank. Is this correct? and if so, why there?
Thanks Much

As
long as the circ or circs are after the scoop(I would use an eliminator instead) it is the PONPC and the correct location.

Water feed
Thanks,
Educate me,...
The scoop and tank are on the supply line before the zones split and the circs are on the return. What is an eliminator?? I'm an electrician ,not a boiler guy,:)
I usually just wire these things,...
This system is in my own house, and is about 10 yrs old0 -
Go
to the boiler manufacturers website and get a piping diagram for your model.

location
I have cleand a lot of boilers and can say there as many places to put a feed valve as there are boilers i like to put mine in a tee at the relief valve and have had no trouble0 -
Why even have an auto feed?
No system should ever need water to be periodically added. This forces issues to be dealt with properly. LWCO is a must.0 -
Pumping Away
Get this book to understand the effects of pump, air eliminator, expansion tank and make up water locations. It's explained in plain english and makes lots of sense.

BTW I usually pipe my MU water into the pipe between the air eliminator and expansion (diaphram) tank.
Good luck, Rich L0 -
