    Old hot water oil boiler

I am the home owner, we live in a 55 year old house that has the original oil hot water closed loop boiler.

The area in the house that we are heating with the boiler is 2200 SQ FT one level. The house has been recently completely rebuilt and well insulated, new windows, doors, stripped to the studs and insulation blown in from the interior. So a very tight house.

My problem is this: we live in the Northwest where they do not use a lot of Hydronics for heating. The heating companies that I am getting bids from are all over the place with size of boilers. One company has bid a 55,00 BTU boiler, another 85,000 a third 130,00. These are either Slant/Fin or Argo boilers.

Obviously as we get into the larger boilers, we are increasing our amp load.

So can any one out there give me some insight on the size of boiler we should be looking at given our mild winters in the NW.

    Thanks,

    Seph Reese

    System 2000

Look at an Energy Kinetics System 2000 EK1 Frontier. It can run at 4 different firing rates from 83,000 to 121,000 BTUs and will save you on oil.
