oil additives?

problem as it's been explained to me is the refining process has been altered for some reason leaving the fuel "unstable" in that the molecules want to join back together, creating sludge.I've heard good things about Fuel Armor but have no first hand experience with it.

Oil additives?
In a related question, are occasional oil additives a good idea or a waste? Ie I have a fairly new tank/lines and boiler. It was put in 4 years ago and would it be about time or over time to put in a general cleaner type to keep sludge down, lines and nozzles clean?Water removed from the tank etc. (nozzles get replaced every year but does more detergent keep them atomizing better throughout a season if cleaner is used once in a while? )If so how often?0
