    500K solar water preheat.

Looking for a midwestern company that deals in large scale solar preheat. Currently have approx. 500,000 btu's of domestic water heat and would like to consider solar. Thanks for any help.

    Choices

Vacuum tubes may be your answer. Take a look at the Viessmann Vitosol 300T product and talk to a local rep. Aside from the selection of the hardware, a reputable company will do the calcs on special software to make sure you get what you need.

    Are you

looking for a contractor or a supplier of materials? Do you just need some questions answered or somebody to do the work as well?

    Can you...

...explain the situation a little more fully? Is there a warm waste stream? What temps are you needing? How is the load met now? The more details, the better. Thanks.

    Yours, Larry

I had a board member of a county run nursing home contact me about solar water heat. I do hvac work and he asked me to help him find some resources.

They currently have 3 Natural gas water heaters that total approx. 500,000 btu's input. I think he wants to see if it would be feasable to preheat with solar. The location is in Northeast Kansas. If any one is willing to contact him directly, send me an email and I will get you contact info.

    Thanks, Mark

What is your email? 500MBTU sounds easy enough for solar DHW production.

    minute, hour, day?

    It makes a BIG difference.

Prior to throwing $olar dollar$ at the project, you should try and clean up the waste that is currently occuring, like continuous run circ returns, uninsulated lines in ventilated crawlers/attics, excessive flows at points of use... etc. etc. etc. adnauseum.

Once you've pared the loads down to reason, the utilization of solar will give you a bigger bang for the buck.

THis basic premise applys to ANY conservation/alternative energy scheme. Otherwise, you are just wasting ex$pen$ive preciou$ btu'$, which really does not amke any sense.
