I know that some of the wallies are into boating. I am looking for some info on a Sea Star boat. Company is out of business and can not find anything on them. Any help would be great.

I live in Sandusky, OH. We are right on the Lake Erie shore. I have a couple of friends that are Service Managers at different Marine repair shops. I will see what I can do.

    What's the intended use?

I LOVE my boat. Took the Heatmeister out fishing on it last weekend. He and I got skunked by his #1 assistant and my wife. Still had a great time. Something about spending time on the water that can't be beat.

Long story short. Iaquired a 27' sea star boat. The boat is a 1977. I was able to find out the manufacturer no longer exists and trying to find info on line has been difficult.Just looking for the owners manual or any type of literature on this boat. Thanks

    ok

    Highly unlikely there's anything around.

Good thing about 1970s fiberglass boats is they are typically overbuilt. The industry was still figuring out the properties of glass and resin.

Ultimately, boats of that vintage often have a very common set of mechanicals and structural things to look for as they age. Owner's manual won't tell you anything different than a good guide to boat maintenance. BoatUS has a good site and good pubs on this topic.

One guy who's been in the business a long time is David Pascoe in FL. He's published several books on surveying boats, which provide really good insight into what kinds of things you need to look for in older boats in terms of commitment to maintenance, stuff to do for preventative maintenance, etc.

He's also got a nice website with his books, reviews of boats, and maintenance articles.

  • Triumph Boats

Don't get one of these, they have a plastic hull and they SUCK! Mine has been back to the factory to repair a leaking hull and it is leaking again. They put a drain plug to drain the boat from the core sandwich, not the bilge. This boat has the worst ride and the company has the worst service dept.

    Thanks, Bob Gagnon

    Sea Star boats

If this is the boat made in Kentucky, their # is 859-792-1413. They show to be the Sea Star mfr. Good luck.

    Inboard, outboard or I/O?

Does this boat have an inboard, an outboard or an I/O? The most important manuals to have are for the mmotor or motors. There are quite a few marine literature dealers that are on Ebay. In addition, many individuals sell marine literature. You might want to submit a favorite search and you will be e-mailed when the item you want goes up for sale.

    I miss my BOAT

That looks like Green Mountain Reservoir. A pontoon perhaps?
  • Yup and Yup...

It is GMR, and it is a party barge with a 55 HP Merury OB motor. Perfect for trolling lazily along all day long.
