Anybody use this?
I thought this would help on a jobsite...
Here's the description:
Simple is good! This is one of the neatest slide-rule tools I've run across in the world of hydronic heating. Larry Drake invented it and brought it through three generations of development. It's one of those "real world" tools that can make your life a lot easier. Sure, it's not as techie as a computer program, but it's a lot easier to stick into your toolbox and go. And it sure gets the job done - quickly and accurately! AND it's generic! I learned how to use the RadPad in less than a half-hour. It lets me quickly figure the water temperatures I'll need. It tells me how warm the surface of the floor will be. It helps me pick the right floor coverings for the job (and shows me what happens if someone picks the WRONG floor coverings!). It selects the optimum tube size and spacing.
At a glance, I can see the circuit lengths that I'll need and I can also tell exactly how much tubing the job requires. The RadPad also shows me the flow rate in each tube and the pressure drops as well. That makes pump sizing a snap!
I also found it to be a terrific tool when it comes to playing the "What if?" game on a job site. This neat little tool opens up a world of options for the heating professional, and at this price, you really can't beat it.
It comes with a 24-page, easy-to-follow instruction booklet that's loaded with technical info. And the back of the heavy-duty plastic sleeve that holds the RadPad has even more information.
Everything you'll need to size that next radiant job can be right there at your fingertips. Whether you use it at your desk or in the field, I think you're going to LOVE the RadPad. And if you're not totally satisfied, just send it back to me for a full refund.
Simple is good!
Thanks,
Rick

Best
self-teaching tool around. Tell anyone the basics of radiant, give them a Rad-Pad and let them play with it a bit.
All of the "what-if" aspects come into focus quickly. Change temperature? Spacing? R-value of covering?
After a while one develops that intuition and inner understanding which leads to judgment. How cool is that?0 -
Great tool
I've had one for about five years now. I couldn't agree more. No matter how long you've been doing this stuff, It comes in handy. It's a great tool.0
