immersion well-hot water furnace

words and all capitals make it hard to read, some people liken it to YELLING!

A furnace usually does not have water, a "boiler" has water and immersion wells.

I would not be afraid of removing brass from cast or steel. It is usually very forgiving.

Make sure you let the boiler cool and drain the water before you attempt this. I don't want to be a "call a proffesional" guy but be sure you are not over your head here. It is a pretty basic task for some.

    immersion well-hot water furnace

    HI,
I HAVE TO CHANGE AN AQUASTAT ON A HOT WATER FURNACE.THE IMMERSION WELL WITH THE HEAT SENSOR SEEMS LIKE IT HAS TO BE REMOVED BECAUSE THE HEAT CONDUCTIVE MATERIAL INSIDE THE WELL HAS SOLIDIFIED.I HAVE A NEW WELL BUT AM NERVOUS ABOUT REMOVING OLD ONE BECAUSE IT IS BRASS AND HEATER IS CAST AND I DON'T WANT IT TO BREAK OFF. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY TIPS.I WAS ABLE TO SAVE THIS JOB UNTIL NOW(JUST IN CASE) BECAUSE THE HEATER IS NOT BEING USED.
    THANK YOU---TIM MCBRIDE,MENTOR,OHIO
