problem isn't the indirect,it's the boiler it's attached to.Pin type boilers don't like being shut off,scaling,condensation,gasket leaks etc.If you have a triple pass boiler,basically no problem,if not....

Indirect
To save money, how much sense does it make to turn off my 40 gallon indirect when I am away for 2 weeks during the summer? I use oil heat.
My concerns are;
1) How much oil would I likely save once I return and have to reheat the entire 40 gallon indirect?
2) How valid are concerns about any bacteria such as Legionares disease? We only use the hot water from the taps for showers, laundry and dishes. We would not ingest any hot water from the taps. THANKS!0
