Dressing up steam return pipe

you'll need something that can take the heat. Maybe a metallic paint?

    Dressing up steam return pipe

I am doing a renovation where an exposed 1-1/4-inch steam return runs along the wall of a ladies room/locker room. The pipe is very visible and will be replaced. Are there any chrome or other covers that can be used to make it look nicer? Or should I just prime and paint? Being a locker room, moisture and corrosion is a concern if going with paint.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    what about stainless?

Perhaps the cost differential is too great, but isn't it possible to find some stainless pipe that you could polish up a bit? It may be more expensive for the material, but it will never need to be refinished.

    Insulate it first

Unless this pipe serves as a heat source, I would insulate it to minimize carbonic acid formation. (And if it IS a heat source, I think you can do better :)

At least a half-inch although codes usually call for one inch thickness.

Once insulated, there are PVC covers that come in a number of colors to finish it off. Ceel-Tite comes to mind. Solvent welded will help resist corrosion.
