We want to buy a house that has water baseboard heat but filling the oil tank will cost us $6000!/season. What do you think our best option would be to convert it?

Take a
look at tightening the envelope. You can't keep a leaky bucket full! New oil units with ODR can reduce consumption by 30-40%.If you want to convert to gas,I would only consider a mod/con.Good luck!

Tighten up /tune-up...your comfort level with hot water is infinitely better than forced air.0 -
Mor Information Needed
It would be helpful if you mentioned the make and model of your current boiler. Do you have a separate water heater? Is gas available in your area? Is the house well-insulated? Are the windows thermally insulated? It would be even better if you posted pictures of you current boiler.0
