We want to buy a house that has water baseboard heat but filling the oil tank will cost us $6000!/season. What do you think our best option would be to convert it?

    Take a

look at tightening the envelope. You can't keep a leaky bucket full! New oil units with ODR can reduce consumption by 30-40%.If you want to convert to gas,I would only consider a mod/con.Good luck!

    Don't do it!

Tighten up /tune-up...your comfort level with hot water is infinitely better than forced air.

    Mor Information Needed

It would be helpful if you mentioned the make and model of your current boiler. Do you have a separate water heater? Is gas available in your area? Is the house well-insulated? Are the windows thermally insulated? It would be even better if you posted pictures of you current boiler.
