Bosch & Moen

Rich,
I pulled my jet pump after many years and installed the variable speed constant pressure Grundfos system at the cottage. It allowed me to abandon the lawn and gardening pump besides.
They are sweet!

KPC, the hydraulic flow control valve on the Bosch units versus the electronic ones found on so many units like Noritz, Takagi and others can be touchy.

    anyone have experience...

w/ Bosch tankless water heaters and moen posi-temp shower valves? I have a customer that has both that whne they go to make the adjustment at the valve when taking a shower the unit will shut down. In order to get thew water to come back hot you need to turn the water off and startall over.....ty,kpc

Bosch is infamous for this, especially the lower quality home-store units.
You can try lowering the heater water temp setting to force more demand on the water heater by increasing flow through it. In addition you can remove or increase the size of the flow restrictor in the showerhead, which will also increase flow, both options increasing the flow to keep the unit fired.

    this was not....

bought at a home center... It is the hydro generated spark type but they ahve a lined chimney that allowed for the easy venting. it is a 425hn series. I will pop out the flow restictors... the water pressure is quite good. kpc

    The Key Problem

Is the fact that positemp means pessure balancing and pressure differentials inherent to most water systems (especially well systems)can create nightmares.

The pressure to an on demand needs to be faily constant and if not it shows up big time at a pressue balancing type valve. They do have what are called constant pressure well systems that can resolve this yet they are mucho $$$$$$.

Lots of factors here e-mail me for more details as it is my 27th anniversary and my bride is hovering.

    Tankless/Moen

They shouldnt need to make adjustments while in the shower if the valve is working correctly. I'm not that familiar with the Moen but I know a Delta will stay at +or- 3 degrees during operation. Thought of changing the valve yet? Leave the restrictors and conserve the water. :)

    I did...

change out the cartridge. That was an issue. This is also on city water pressure is consistant and a good 60-70 psi. kpc
