Peaceful -

I like the customers that call repeatedly every three minutes rather than leave a message... my voicemail says to leave me a message with whatever I need to know. If I answer it will take them 30 minutes to describe the noise or symptom and try to fix it themselves...if it goes to voicemail they have thirty seconds. I don't have time to answer every call when it rings...or in my case politely and quietly vibrates. I do not even look at "missed calls" if they want me they need to leave a message. And if I'm on somebodies nickel I won't make them pay for me answering the phone, not will I interupt a conversation for the cell, and we do not get up from the dinner table for phones, cell or landline...try that with four teenagers. If one of our cells goes off in church, and there are seven of us...the offender has to buy lunch!

Geez! what a hard nosed tyrant I am!

    it has been quiet -

I inadvertently left my cell phone on a job site about 3 days ago, and as it is about 50 km out of town - left it there. It has been rather quiet. Peaceful. I think we should promote an international holiday - no cell phones for 24 hours. Just think of the silence!

  • one of my favorite commercials

is a beach scene on a tropical island. There's a cold beer (if I remember correctly) and only part of some guy's arm as he relaxes on a lounge chair. A beeper goes off & he skips it out across the emerald-blue water like a stone where its noise fades and then it sinks.

Brought a smile every time I saw it.

    the

latest one I saw last night was some guy in the line of sight on the beach. Let's say he should have not been on the beach, what w/ the speedo and the 50 lbs over weight.

The same arm pushes the beer (Corona) on the table over to block the guys profile out of sight so that the tropical view is unspoiled.

    LOL.

    AT&T service

What kind of luck are you having with AT&T? (if you have them as a carrier)

We switched to them about 4 months ago and I noticed the signal around here, 50 mile radius has been getting more and more marginal. Places I used to be able to talk are no signal areas. In addition, even though I put my cell number on the national do not call list, I get between 4-6 telemarketing calls every day. It's getting so that if I don't recognize the number or it's an unfamiliar area code I don't even answer it. Flatly stated.............I'm very disappointed to say the least.

Yeah, we switched from Cellone to ATT 'cuz I thought I had to...the store in town is totally screwed up. I have seven phones and haven't noticed any real service issues other than access when the touristas are in town. I figured out that if I deal directly with ATT by calling 611 things get straightened out pretty quick. ARe you in Homer?

    c phone

guys do what i do when customers ask for your number just say NO. When i used to give it out customers would call all hours of the day just because they want to buy an air filter. They would do tat even though they know i have a secretary that can ship them anything they want and an on ine store where they can order whatever they need. i finally said enough is enough 1,400 or so customers can live without my personal phone number

My cell is my business phone. I'm a one-man show and don't need somebody to monitor the phone at home that way. In fact, if they call the house phone, it tells them to call my cell. I get a call back number that way, a time of call, a brief message, I can get it anytime AT MY CONVIENIENCE, they get used to calling and leaving a message for me, ultimately it is less phone time because I don't have to call home and get messages and then call back, I can hang up on sales pitches on my cell just a good as I can the land line, I'm not tied to the phone at home and don't have to look forward to answering the machine when I get home, I've trained my cell to be very polite and discreet and it seldom interupts whatever I am doing. This works very very for me. In fact, on the other thread about inventions...in my world the cell phone makes my business possible.
