Why? Any issues with either I should know about?

    use a Triangle tube Prestige

  • price?

if it is about price go with a Lochinvar knight. Do not know the Bimini and have had a fare amount of problems with the munchkin.
  • Thanks,

I'll look around. The Prestige is nice but the smallest model is too big. I thought I had heard about problems with Munchkins. Bimini is a Crown Boiler product similar to the Munchkin. The Knight looks interesting anmd has smaller sizes. I have an email to them in regards to a local distributor. I'll post more when I have more.

    Bimini

The bimini is only like the munchkin in that it is a mod con. It is an aluminum block, easier to service, wire etc.
I can't speak for the others, but we have several homes heated with Bimini boilers & are very happy with them & Crown.

  • Thanks,

I was started wonder if anybody else used Crown around here. I've been happy with everything else they've sold me and the little support I've needed over the years has always been outstanding.

    BUDERUS GB142

TRY A BUDERUS GB142 WITH THE PREPIPED SYSTEM CIRC. PUMP MANIFOLD SET UP, THIS WILL SAVE YOU A LITTLE TIME AND THIS BOILER IS A NICE LOOKING UNIT THAT IS EASY TO INSTALL.
  • Yup,

I did, a little pricey for this application unfortunately. I think I'm going to stick my neck out and go with the Bimini. I already sell the rest of the line and know there has been good support in the past so I might as well become familiar with their mod con offering and see how things go. I'll keep you all posted as time marches on. Thanks!

    The Bimini

I have been installing many of the Crown products for some time. I like that they are American made. Have been to their factory and I will attest to the fact that the employees are well trained professionals. Was impressed by the fact that they are salaried not piecemeal and it shows in the quality of the product. What's most impressive about Crown is technical support. I can call anytime and get a live person almost immediately. They are easy to talk to and have gotten me out of a few jams quickly and happily. The Bimini is a treat to install, quiet as a mouse. I usually pair them up with Crown's Mega-store indirect. Have a client, old Navy man, who actually clocks his gas meter daily. called to let me know heat bill were down 30% and that DHW gas usage compared to his old 40 Gal, unit is half for same number of days same time of year. Am scheduled to install about 2 doz. more in next 2 months from steamers to bimini's. I really appreciate the company's dedication to service and to their product. Can't seem to find to much of that these days on either end of the phone...
BTW, their concentric venting kits compared to PVC is really no comparison, easy install and nice looking termination. Their control boards are the exact same as in the Prestige that is spoken of so highly here.
    Just my experience.

    Munchkin

Four years ago I installed my munchkin. Problems at first minor things, maybe because it was my first total boiler install. I work on and install boilers that are as big as a bus. The only thing that gives me fits is the outdoor reset as I'm on number 3. As far as the boiler I can't complain, it has done every thing it was designed to do. The support I have from the factory is awesome so far. Yearly cleaning and tuning with an analyzer and so far so good.
