FWIW - The HDD data I downloaded for a specific site from the website above did not match the data I obtained from the official NOAA database (paid subscription).

How far off was the data? It is possible to contact those persons in charge of the site if there is a flaw in the data. Thanks for bringing this up.0 -
Wunderground
From what I can tell, the site uses data from Wunderground.com weather stations. Some of these are "official" but the majority are personal weather stations like my own that vary considerably in quality and reliability. For instance, if someone didn't shield their temperature sensor they might report much higher temps than a nearby station.
I really like the site, but it might be a good idea to check the source of the data, which you can do by looking up the relevant station on wunderground.0 -
Website data was ~ 200 HHD lower than NOAA's for 7/07 - 6/08(~6,500 HDD total = ~ 3%)- not a huge discrepancy but too much for my level of detail. AFA the site where the data was supposedly generated - it was the same as NOAA's (Worcester Airport in MA). I can't really explain it other than it does not appear to be coming from the same equipment0
