Steam Heat
My radiators only get hot half way up in the entire house. A contractor tells me they need to be taken out and flushed. Could this be true? Or is it a problem with my returns?0 -
Any other issues? Noises? Pressure changes?0 -
No the radiators just do not heat up,only half way, and all the vents have been changed.0 -
Do the rooms warm up properly?
If so, everything's OK. It just wasn't cold enough outside for the radiators to need to heat up all the way.

Here are some things to be checked
1. Air vents working? Check main vents as well as radiator vents.
2. Boiler water clean?
3. Boiler fired at proper rate?
4. Boiler properly sized to the radiation load?
5. Boiler possibly has a leak above the waterline?
Much of this is work that a pro should handle. Click Resources above, then Find a Professional to find someone near you.
