I live in Hawkins, Tx. 75765, and recently acquired a 1920's "Sanitary" wooden electric refrigerator. It is beautiful, the motor and compressor run. The motor is Wagner Corp. St. Louis, Mo. SN 592889, alternating current, Type Ref 7BA 1-Phase, 60 cycles, continuous rating 40 degrees C, 1725 RPM, 110 volts 4 amps, 220 volts 2 amps. There is a plate in the motor area marked "Frigidaire 79426". No. 293 is stamped on the wood in the back of ref. I am interested in finding a buyer for this refrigerator. Pictures available. Thanks.

Belt Driven!
It's been a while since I've seen a belt driven compressor. Amazing the seal around the compressor shaft is still holding, that's usually what spelled their deaths, leaky shaft seal. Way cool! Thanks for the pics! Unfortunately I have no room for it here.0 -
Old refrigerators
Hi Joyce,
Pretty cool piece of equipment! I myself have in the basement a 1948 Kelvinator, and out in the garge, I have a 1948 Montgomery Ward. I do not belive that they use tremendous amounts of electricity. Both units cause my electric bills to go up about a $1.50/month. Be careful with some of those older refrigerators, some may contain Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), as a refrigerant. It's pretty nasty stuff, and you'll definitely know when you develop a leak.
Enjoy your vintage refrigerator! Both of mine keep the beer incredibly cold!.
