    Any preferences?

Does anyone have any preferences between the Trinity Ti100 and the Triangle Tube prestige Solo 110 for an infloor radiant system? Is there anything better I am missing? Thanks for your input.

    Not exactly equals

The Trinity has a built in plate exchanger to supply DHW. The Prestige Solo has a tapping/relay connection for a DHW pump. You need to connect to an indirect tank or plate exchanger.

There is a version of the Prestige with a small 14 gallon storage tank built into the cabinet called the Excellence PE-110. It will provide a continuous 3gpm DHW on a 70F rise.

There are several other differences. The Prestige uses the Honeywell MCBA logic board - same as the Dunkirk Quantum, WeilMcClain Ultra, and Burhnam Freedom. This unit provides an indoor/outdoor reset function. The Trinity does not have this, although you certainly could add an aftermarket product such as a Tekmar 256.

The Trinity uses a coil type exchanger which has a very high head loss. It must be piped in a primary - secondary design. The Prestige has a very low head loss. You can pipe it virtually any way you want, plus the 110 includes a heating circulator built in.

The Trinity coil heat exchanger,316L, needs to be cleaned/serviced annually. The Prestige exchanger, is made with 439 S/S, and is of a vertical design. The condensate will drip down through the baffles, essentially cleaning itself every time it condenses.

The Prestige boiler has the highest water content of all the major condensing boilers. This is actually an advantage because it helps to prevent flashing into steam in a low flow condition.

I do not like the wiring terminal stip on the Prestige. I suppose I'm being petty but - its a pain. It requires a special little tool (they give you) to push open a spring loaded connector - insert your wire. Loose it and your in trouble. That said, WeilMcClain is the worst on wiring - the terminal strip is on back behind the vent pipes - virtually impossible to get to once the piping is installed.

Other than that, I think the Prestige ..hands down, is the best value condensing boiler on the market today. Agree with Robert - Viessman of course is the best engineered / best qualilty but comes with a price tag.

    My $.02
