Heat Loss Calculations

Based on Steamhead's advise (thank you Steamhead) I am using Slant/Fin software to calculate heat loss (steam system) for my kitchen remodel/addition.
My questions are:
1)Indoor design temp 70F and outdoor design temp 0.0F is that correct?
2)System design water temp is a default of 180F what should I change this to for steam?
3)Should a wall with basement stairs behind it be included in Cold Partition Factor? The basement while not heated is pretty warm in the winter. Thank you.

outdoor temp depends on where you are.
I'm not sure what water temp has to do with the heat load calculation.
if the basement is cold, basement space is cold as is stairs to the basement.
You say the basement is not heated, but is pretty warm; that means you're losing quite a bit of heat to it... from somewhere.0 -
In the software program there is a place to input System Design Water Temperature. It is set at a default of 180F should I change this for a steam system? I am in NJ so should I change outside temp from 0.0F to something different. I am trying to figure out what size radiator I can use to heat entire kitchen old and new space. Thanks0 -
I imagine the system must be doing something other than the heat loss with the system design water temperature setting. I'd leave it at 180 for now at least.
In new jersey you're more commonly around 10 deg F. for a design temp.0 -
dupe! sorry.0 -
UDEL I believe the
Slant Fin software is using the boiler water temp to calculate how many feet of baseboard you will need at a given temp.
Wouldn't concern myself with that, but your outdoor design temp will matter.

S/F HL software,
asks you the water temperature so it can calculate the linear Ft. required of their radiation to meet the calculated #.
Room HL is still HL regardless of the radiation so just ignore that unless you`re choosing rads too.
