I agree that the Tekmar is an excellent control. If your boiler burner is lo-hi-lo staged, look at Heattimer controls...one made for almost any steam boiler control senario.

Steam boiler control for outdoor reset

In the spring and early fall, the steam boiler for my facility starts up in the early AM, buring several gallons of oil. But since the weather will warm during the daylight solar gain, the heat probably doesn't need to go on. For instance, it will be 75* and sunny today and the boiler shouldn't be starting to raise the setback temp to the setpoint of 68* since the building will reach the 70's just from solar gain.

What control can I use to account for this and reduce the boiler usage during these times of year?

    Some sort of warm-weather shutdown

should do the trick. Tekmar builds this function into their 269 and 279 outdoor-reset units, and it works with both the Occupied (daytime) and Unoccupied (night) modes. Or you could use a simple outdoor thermostat with a timer so the boiler wouldn't run unless it got below a certain temperature at night.
