Yes. On the cold line between the tank and the check valve. Make sure and use the right tank....for potable, open systems, not for hydronic systems

    hot water expansion tank

i am installing a super stor indirect hot water heater, i have a recirculating loop ....there is a check valve on the cold supply ..question...does the expansion tank have to be between the check valve and tank(in the cold line coming in), or can it be on the hot side ( in the hot line leaving the heater)thanks in advance for any advice on this...john

    Hot water expansion tanks

All unvented water heaters sold in the UK are required to have an expansion vessel by the Water Regulations. The expansion vessels are invariably on the cold feed pipe, so that the diaphragm is not exposed to hot water.
