back of the boiler in picture P1010375 next to the equalizer is a tap, looks to be 3/4" or 1" has a nipple in it now with elbow another nipple and a cap. Thats your place for skimmer valve ED

    Photos of boiler- problems seen?

Here are 2 photos of my new boiler . Wanted input if anything looks out of place- i have had some say about the copper in header, that there should be a drop header, no skim tap, etc.
    thanks

Seen worse...but it still leaves alot to be desired

and should be repiped in black pipe. Could you take some better pictures...different angles , longer view, and resize the pics? Mad Dog

    Photos Boiler Problems!

Here are some other photos/views- any input would be appreciated. Should the copper pipe in the back be black iron? should the copper on top have been iron? Should there be a drop header? Should there be a skim valve? thanks

    if you look at...

install manual is will show you better how to pipe it. Drop headers are nice but not required. The copper on the header should be replaced...equalizer ok. And why is the boiler so close to the wall? Skim valve? it looks like a skim "tap" is there. Is it sized right...looks like abig boiler....kpc

Regarding closeness to wall, that is where the old one was (installed over 20 years ago) so when they replaced this recently they put it back in the same spot. House is a 3 story house- one pipe steam- they measured it and this is what they came up with for size. How about the copper in the back, does that need to be replaced with black pipe? They said there was no skim tap on the system. thanks, any other info would be helpful.

    vaporstat

make sure you have a 0-16 ounce vaporstat to control the pressure--maybe they are on sale in the summer!!
usually there should be more vertical distance from the waterline to the lowest horizontal of the steam main so check those measurements against the installation manual [downloadable from the boiler manufacturers website ]--nbc
