onyx tubing on a slab floor

The slab is already there. The supply house just told us to duct tape the pipe to the cement, but we still think there would be a better way of doing it.

radiant heat on a slab floor

We have to do radiant heat on a slab floor. We are going to be using 3/8" watts onyx tubing. Does anyone have any ideas on how to secure the tubing to the slab floor? Usually we would staple it right to the plywood, but this time it is cement. Thank you.

Are you pouring the slab, or is the slab already there?

    Insulation

Is the exiating slab insulated. If not it would be advisable to put in a thermal break. How much more concrete are you pouring? I've put down 6x6 mesh and tied to it for a concrete overpour like you're describing. I used Tapcons and washers to hold down the high spots and keep it from moving around.

    PEX Rail

I use PEX and a PEX Rail system over slabs. It is quick and holds the tube well. I shoot the rail down with a Hilti gun and the nails with the flat washer already pressed on.

    Crete-Heat

has a thin insulation product for over slab. It holds Onix very well.

I have also glued Onix down with liquid nail! You need a clean slab, and a day or two dry time. Some clips or weights to keep the loops straight

Sioux Chief tube talons with concrete nails inserted work great. One slam from a single jack drives them home.

Tune in tom HVACtv tonight for a demo of a Habitat for Humanity solar radiant job that I used Crete-Heat with Onix.
