DDC options- the truth
I want to know what people think of Honeywell's Excel DDC systems. Is it an industry standard? Is the programming method easy to use? Is it even popular- in small, medium or large commercial applications? Are the graphic displays informative and artistic? Or, are Johnson Controls (Metasys) or Siemens Control systems just SO MUCH better?0 -
As others here have said about this boiler or that, what will be most valuable to you will be the experience and competence of the contractor(s) that engineer, install, and service your DDC system. My experience is that most DDC systems, in an apples-to-apples comparison, are equal. Most people who interact with these systems have a preference, but it is usually due to their familiarity with the system - not any intrinsic qualities. The quality of the contractors is far more important.0 -
\"Open\" DDC
You bring up a question that many folks would like answered... The choice is easy for me because I want to spec and install a product that does not lock me into service by one particular vendor. Nearly anyone can get training and support for most Johnson Controls products and many distributors and independants can service it's products. Honeywell offers both proprietary and open systems, Siemens is strictly a proprietary system...
Me, myself, I mainly install and service Johnson products but have worked on many with success, including Honeywell.0
