Soalr Pool Heating

I like that idea. Just started wondering, what about freezing temps. Or do you not get freezing temps in your area? I'm imagining having to blow it out in the fall?

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer of the low cost solar collectors for pools?

    Thanks, Bob Gagnon

    solar pool panels

    Check out Techno-solis
  • I have two...

Of the Vortex 4x12 panels in use at the neighbor's and I think this is our fourth season with them. I'm very pleased with the product, we put them up and take them down seasonally and just bungi them to the fence surrounding the pool. I rigged them in parallel with 3/4 PVC coming directly off the filter discharge. One was recently damaged by a careless pool guy and the company is giving us a new one under warrantee. They carry a 10 year warrantee. We also have a Triangle Tube/Weil Mclain pool heater that works off the boiler but we've found that once the pool is up to temp the two 4x12 panels will maintain it all summer, very little fuel usage during that time. We condition 30,000 gallons with them. I place them facing east/west straight up against the fence, they catch the morning sun, lose a couple hours around noon and soon as the sun starts down toward the west they'll catch all the afternoon sun as well. Works like a charm. ;)

A pool cover will reduce heat loss by 300%, you need to cover the pool for best results with the solar panels.

    I used

the concrete pool shirt. Put some piping into the slab and y0u can heat the pool while cooling the concrete.

    Pool collectors

Heliocol, great product and warranty, started using them in 1991 and have not come across anything better.
  • Link?

I found the Heliocol site but I couldn't find any data on the panels themselves. What sizes do they come in?

    Just like everything else

You build it to suit your local needs. The ability to drain is always positive.
  • right...

    thanks!
