Convert Steam Boiler to Hot water Boiler?

Is there a way to use a steam boiler as a hot water boiler. Is a coil to run steam through different than a coil to run hot water through. This would be used to heat treat lumber in an insulated trailer. We can get a good price on a steam boiler, but would want to modify the system for hot water.

I assume that
you are asking two questions so I will go on that basis-
SOME but not all boilers are convertible to either steam or hot water, probably very few these days. The differences are in control trim and near-boiler piping. The manufacturer or their latest literature must be consulted. Many boilers are "medium-specific" but some will tolerate a "gender change".
When you say "coil", do you mean an air coil? Again, it depends. Steam coils tend to have larger headers and tubes with distinct low-point outlets. Coils which are serpentine in nature and/or have several rows in series tend to be, but are not absolutely, hot water types.0
