NG outfit - hot water and hot water heating recommendations

Hello,

We have a 26 y.o. 100k btu weil-mclain boiler system for our hot water radiator heating system, and a 12 year old 40 gal GE hot water heater. Both run on Natural Gas.

If you were looking to replace both, can you recommend what you would pick for a system that used the existing chimney (conventional), as well as one that was a high-efficiency unit ?

Can you vent the super-high efficiency furnaces and hot water heaters up the chimney, if you install he right small-diameter liner?

Whatever you go with, let your boiler make your domestic hot water via an indirect water heater...best possible way to make hot water. Just keep an ignightor on hand for your boiler 'cause if the boiler goes out, no heat OR hot water...

do NOT select a new boiler that is the same size as the existing one. Any contractor worth anything will do a full heat-loss calculation on your house, and make recommendations based on that.
