4th of July

Happy Independence Day to all!

Not to quibble in semantics, but I try to avoid saying, "Happy 4th of July", much as I would not say, "Merry December 25th!"..

July 4th exists in all countries but means something here.

Let's count our blessings and at the end of the day, count our fingers. We should all wind up with at least ten at the end of the day.

Polydactyly yours,

Brad

    4th of July

Would like to extend a happy and safe 4th of July to all who contribute to this great website. Please take time to think of and thank those who gave us our freedoms. The many things we take for granted, like our freedom of speech.

    Enjoy the holiday,

    Rich

    Thanks John

I love what this country has given me. It seems as though Americans take for granted what they actually have.

So easy to belly ache about the condition each of us perceives the country to be in. I guess it is the downside of freedom. The inability to see the forest through the trees. The expectation that we are deserved of this, our freedom was payed for by those who believed in America and were willing to die for it. That is how this country came about from day one, that is how it has survived.

Quite an awesome undertaking. I love this country!!

    Happy Independence Day All!

    Have a safe holiday.

The kids and I will be enjoying some "rocket's red glare" and "bombs bursting in air" tonight.

This afternoon, we'll take a spin through the Saratoga Battlefield. Benedict Arnold rallied the colonial army when they started breaking ranks and running from the British there. In fact, he disobeyed direct orders to do so. Had he not, the colonials would have lost that battle.

Benedict Arnold actually played a huge role in defeating the British, the Battle of Saratoga being one. He also held the British at bay in the Battle of Valcour on Lake Champlain, preventing British reinforcements from marching to Albany.

Too bad he finished the war with an act of treason and died a traitor in England.

Today is day I think of my nephew

George is a USMC who served a stint in Iraq last year and will be going to Afghanistan later this year. Talk about bravery and service -- may God watch over him and all of our brave protectors wherever they are.

I think of the serviceman and servicewomen every day, but more so today. We owe everything to them. The soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy, the soldiers who fought in World War 1 and World War 2, to the soldiers who fight in Iraq and Afghanistan today and all the soldiers who served throughout history, THANK YOU!! Expectations

Our desire to critize and question the motives and results of our government is nothing more than our expectations being massive.

We live in the greatest country on the face of the earth. Make no mistake about that. Questioning the government and asking them to delivere excellence is what we deserve.

God Bless our military and bring them home safe and quickly.

Very well said Mad Dog, God Bless America! I love this country and all it stands for, and I humbly respact and revere the sacrifices made for us, by those who don't even know us.

Is really all they expect and such a small price to pay! Thanks guys I was up north visiting my in-laws. My father in law was a Marine in Korea and served 36 years in the National Guard (retired as a First Seargent) He is facing his biggest battle now though as we built a handicapped ramp to bring my mother-in law home for the first time in three months. She is fighting cancer and has had a very tough go of it. Hope to get back up to put in the ADA shower as the family would like her to be able to have home care. First time in about twenty five years that my father-in-law could not be in the VFW color guard unit of the 4th of July Parade. He opted to take his wife from the nursing home down a couple of blocks so he could sit with her.

    Role models exraordinaire!
