Converting my steam system to warm air.
So after a coupla beers I began thinking:
What if I drained a steam boiler that had a large tankless coil in it and ran hot water through the coil, heating the air in the boiler?
Would the expanding air in the boiler move toward the radiator air vents, effectively converting my steam heating system to an unforced warm air system? I'm pretty sure it would.
Obviously Im leaving out some details, but Im pretty sure Im onto something here and I think Im about to make a LOT of money off this fool-proof plan.
Too bad you didnt think of it first.

sounds great
why NOT have two boilers..one steel base w/ coil for DHW and to make the hot water for the coil in the old "steam" boiler. Frank might have another Sunray laying around for the drybase..
Mastic will work well for sealing the pinholes on the existing piping.
I need to stop working so much in the biz, and more ON the biz like you John
PS. Why not hook a small hairdryer to the return tap to make it a forced delivery system?0 -
surely
you are joking? or are you just needing another beer?0 -
I DO have
some Sunrays that might work- they're all flame-retention types so we won't have to worry about sooting........ 8-)

This is no joke. In fact, I've already started spending the money I know I'll be making soon.

well
how well you do think a standard hot water system would work if you pulled all the pumps and let it work solely by gravity?
how may gravity systems are being put in these days?
turn your boiler down to less than 1 oz. and see how well that works?
look at a gravity water system compared to a pumped system, see the difference? or the difference between FHA and graivity hot air?

Seriously?
Yes. It is a joke.
