Cleaning Scale From Coils

It looks kinda chunky or flaky and is whitish green in color. The coil was plugged completely, but I worked it loose by purging house pressure back and forth thru it while probing with a thermostat wire (very messy). Nothing but well water went into the boiler. Customer said it was twelve years old, then later said it was four years old, so Ser. # will tell the truth.

    Cleaning Scale From Coils

Anybody got a good method for getting scaly lime-calcium type crud from the INSIDE of an Indirect's heating coil?
This particular one is the Brad-White with all four ports at the top.

    That may...

be coated w/ PEX.... either way I would give B-W a call.
With the stadard cupronickle coil I make a wand out of 3/8 copper tube drill holes in the end then put a hose thread x compression adapter in the end.hook it to a pony pump and spray sizzle in the tank by way of tye aquastat entrance...kpc

    what type of scale inside

the HX coil? If it is just from fill water any scale cleaner available from plumbing suppliers should work. If it is some other type of build up from??? you may need to determine what it is to find something to disolve it.

Some of the early Bradford White tanks had aluminum coated HX tube. I'd check with them before dumping acid in.e
