Buried Propane Tank

I have some friends buying a house which is heated by propane. Currently the tanks are above ground, but they are thinking about burying them underground (I think really because the tanks are just an eyesore).
I told them I'd ask the experts, so does anyone have opinions about burying propane tanks?
Thanks,

buried tanks
We do it all the time. We use a company that owns & maintains the tank. They are also competitive price- wise.
When I did an installation out of my regular area, we had to buy the tank, and install it with them, then they jacked the price up so it worked out well because we were able to change suppliers.
The key to a good installation is 1' of sand under over and all around the tank, plus a sacrificial anode. The first company I mentioned meters these annually on all installations, and replaces them as required. Most companies do not do this.
I went past a house we built 17 years ago ( 700,000 value today) that has a 1000 gallon tank sitting next to the driveway - very classy.
Our propane heating customers paid 2.38/gallon this winter- which if you do the math ( with condensing equipment) is not so bad compared to oil.

Paint
Paint a face on there. Perhaps weld on a wiggly tail.
What do you mean thats not classy?

Note that tanks are designed either for above ground or buried. Use the correct one.0 -
classy?
I was thinking more along the lines of a faux conning tower & a periscope. But that's just me I watch The Hunt for Red October whenever it's on. I've even watched it in Spanish.
